Market Development Officer

Jobs Responsibility/Description
  • Provide technical support in identifying market development opportunities, understanding evolving market trends, conducting targeted research on new /potential market channels, and business models;
  • Closely Work with the concerned staff of the project management unit in particular the adaptive livelihood expert to formulate and design the market development plan and ensure effective implementation of the plan;
  • Support and review the ongoing market development activities as per GCF?s Annual plan and preparing the implementation plan by coordinating with respective department for implementation;
  • Generate ideas on livelihood options, training components, etc. based on the market survey findings and skills in demand in the market;
  • Identifies relevant market actors, assesses end markets, develops value chain maps, identifies constraints, market-based solutions, and incentives to integrate project?s livelihood interventions into value chains and commercial distribution networks;
  • Enable the team to work together so that livelihoods options, value chains, and marketing programs are integrated and provide synergy;
  • Support and assist market development interests at relevant meetings, events, and within resource mobilization or donor-specific peer networks, as it relates to project?s funding streams;
  • Enhance the capacity of project staff to mainstream entrepreneurship and value chain initiatives to inter-sectoral integration and liaise with stakeholders;
  • Develops technical knowledge, capacity and competency of project staff, partner and community leaders;
  • Prepares intervention budgets and monitors operations throughout the project period to ensure adherence to budgetary controls;
  • Support internal and external collaboration and learning to improve and adapt program design;
  • Take part in process documentation, collection and compilation of required information from the entrepreneurs and stakeholders preparing regular report;
  • Prepare regular report (interim, final, donor report and others) and documentation;
  • Ensures the smooth running of activities (objectives achievement, adherence to schedules, etc.), respect and follow the deadline for plans activities.
  • Provides spot coach for capacitating on facilitation, mobilization, leadership, conflict management, result based management and communication skills;
  • Create learning environment among team members through sharing sessions;
  • Maintain close working relationship with the partners, value chain actors, appropriate stakeholders in the government and other relevant stakeholders for smooth delivery of the project;
  • Conduct regular intensive field visit to troubleshoot field problems, monitor project activity progress, and collect data to measure the changes in the different level of the project;
  • Prepare progress reports on a periodic basis and on case to case basis as per requirement of the project and ensure quality documentation;
  • Develop training modules and facilitate different training sessions as need of the program;
  • Any other specific area of responsibilities assigned by the project management;
Educaional Qualification
  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Development Studies or any other relevant field;
Jobs Experience
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in market development related projects preferably with a national/international NGO;
  • Experience in preparation of program budget, expenditure analysis and progress monitoring reports;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and coordinate activities of multiple partners, including field-based staff and work well under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Formulate new promotional activities and guiding in brand promotional campaigns;
  • Experience working with NGOs and knowledge of the local language will be an added advantage;
  • Experience of UN/UNDP funded project is desirable;

  • Work experience in emergency response with partnership mechanism is an added advantage;
  • Draws on own and others? multi-country experience to identify viable courses of action when conducting analyses;
  • Helps internal and external clients achieve quality results beyond presenting problems and precedent;
  • Highlights possible solutions for project issues based on relevant multi-country and/or multi-client experience;
  • Regularly contributes insights and experiences to colleagues in the Division to help them achieve quality results;
